Teddy - Melancholia

This projected started with an imposed theme; abandoned toys imprisoned in a purgatory named Melacholia. The toy that I chose was teddy bears, therefore the character name was Teddy. Rather than only representing the chosen toy in the costume, I chose to represent a young adult struggling to let go his childhood. In the conception, the teddy bears represent the childhood that is put aside by its owner. Also, for the photoshoot I chose to represent a child's room with drapes, boxes, and lamps to create a nostalgic ambiance.

To show all of the different layers, the illustration was made on multiple layers of cut-out water color pieces stacked between acetate. The water colors gives a faded impression of the costume, afterwards, the acetate illustrates well the transparency found in the costume.
